Nick Hornung

General Counsel

Nick Hornung is General Counsel of Istithmar World. As head of legal he has overall responsibility for all legal matters across the Istithmar World portfolio. Nick joined Istithmar World in August 2006 and brought with him extensive experience advising corporate clients in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. As part of his professional experience, Nick has handled many top multinational clients across different sectors and industries, from hotels to financial services, from telecommunications to energy, with wide experience of advising on large-scale corporate transactions.

Prior to joining Istithmar World, Nick had spent his entire legal career with leading international law firm Linklaters where he trained and qualified in their London office. As well as working for a number of years in their London office Nick also spent over four years in Asia based in both Linklaters’ Hong Kong and Singapore offices. During Nick’s career with Linklaters he specialized in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, joint ventures and IPOs.

Nick is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, holds a Diploma in Legal Practice with distinction from the College of Law in Chester in the UK and an MA (Hons) in Law and Natural Sciences from Jesus College, Cambridge University in the UK. In November 2008 Nick was awarded best in-house counsel in private equity / investment sector by the Dubai Corporate Counsel Group recognizing outstanding achievement amongst leading GCC lawyers.
